At the heart of Karibu Parkparkers’ work is a structured and community-driven waste collection system. The program focuses on gathering old clothes, fabric scraps, and paper waste—materials that are often discarded without consideration for their reuse potential. By redirecting these items from dumping sites and drainage systems, the initiative is helping to reduce pollution and improve sanitation across neighborhoods.
But collection alone is not enough. Recognizing this, Karibu Parkparkers has placed strong emphasis on community awareness and behavioral change. Through door-to-door sensitization, workshops, and community meetings, residents are educated on proper waste segregation, recycling practices, and the environmental dangers of poor waste disposal.
Local leaders report increased participation in clean-up campaigns and a growing culture of responsibility among households. “People are beginning to see waste not as useless, but as something that can create value,” one community volunteer noted.
